Ghana's Premier Bauxite Producer
Ghana Bauxite Company Ltd (GBC) is the sole company engaged in bauxite mining in Ghana since the 1940s. GBC is jointly owned by Ofori–Poku Company Limited (a wholly owned Ghanaian Company) – 80%, and the Government of Ghana (through Ghana Integrated Aluminium Development Corporation (GIADEC) – 20%. This partnership combines private-sector efficiency with Government’s long-term commitment to developing Ghana’s strategic mineral resources and expanding value addition within the country’s aluminium industry.
Having established ourselves as a reputable global supplier of premium trihydrate bauxite ore with a typical alumina (Al₂O₃) content 52% and low silica content of 1.5%, we export approximately 2 million tonnes of bauxite annually. GBC seeks to leverage on its existing reserves to meet the global demand for bauxite by increasing its production to 6 million tonnes per year with precision surface mining in the new Subri Hill mine pit.
The high demand, combined with the company’s commitment to ongoing investment in resource exploration and development, as well as the implementation of globally recognized safe and sustainable mining practices has made GBC a company of choice.
