Resource Management
GBC operates the Awaso Mine within a 35.5 sq.km concession (about 0.3% of the Western North Region), situated on a plateau 515 metres above sea level that extends from Sefwi-Bekwai to Asawinso. The concession area contains five bauxite-capped hills (Afumba, Boakakhirri, Subri, Ichiniso, and Kanayerebo); our Parliament-ratified 30-year mining lease covers three of these (Subri, Ichiniso, and Kanayerebo), totalling 29.39km², with the remaining hills representing significant future resource potential.

Production & Processing
GBC is actively transitioning from traditional drill-and-blast techniques (used for over 80 years) toward modern surface mining methods. This shift enhances operational efficiency, reduces environmental impact, and improves worker safety. Supported by a robust fleet of surface miners, haulage trucks, and dump trucks, our operation is targeting an annual production capacity of 2.5 million metric tonnes of high-grade bauxite with 52% alumina content and just 1.5% silica.

Logistics & Export
Extracted bauxite travels approximately 240 km via 45 m³ haulage trucks to the Port of Takoradi. Takoradi's mechanised loading system handles up to 2,500 tonnes per hour directly to capsize bulk carriers, enabling monthly throughput exceeding 400,000 tonnes, and ships the product to aluminium smelters and refineries in China and Europe. GBC has expanded its port stockpile area with new heavy equipment and installed after-hours lighting for round-the-clock vessel loading.

Customer Relationships
GBC maintains long-term supply agreements with leading global aluminium producers. These relationships are built on consistent product quality, transparent reporting, and responsive customer service. Our sales and marketing function works closely with operations to align production scheduling with customer offtake requirements, ensuring reliable delivery that our customers' production planning depends on.
